PaL recognizes parents as their children’s first and most influential teacher and provides practical support to enable them to actively participate in the early education of their children.

Research indicates that when parents are involved in their children’s education at home, children do better in school and ‘what parents do with their children is more important than who parents are’.

By supporting parents in their own environment, PaL builds upon the positive aspects of home learning and interaction to raise expectations about what parents and children can achieve.

Parents choose to participate in PaL because they want to “help their kids”. The practical resources enable parents to read books and play educational games with their children in their own home environment. The information exchange and support provided by PaL tutors, facilitates parents understanding of early literacy and numeracy learning.
